Country Roads Trust Athletes Helping with Charitable Contributions
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Country Roads Trust, the foremost Name, Image and Likeness team in West Virginia, is proud to announce that 10 signed athletes are attending the Polar Plunge and contributing part of their NIL money to Special Olympics West Virginia on Feb. 19 at Cheat Lake.
West Virginia University football players and offensive linemen Zach Frazier, James Gmiter and Doug Nester will be there as will defensive back Charles Woods and defensive lineman Taijh Alston. Mountaineer volleyball setter Kamiah Gibson and four to be named later will also attend.
The 10 will combine to contribute a total of $1,000 to Special Olympics West Virginia.
“Country Roads Trust is excited to partner with the Special Olympics, the Polar Plunge and Dale Wolfley’s team,” said Trust general manager and COO Stephen Ford. “This is our first opportunity to distribute NIL funds to our Trust Member Athletes and we couldn’t have picked a better event to get things started.
“We love that our group of athletes are able to take advantage of their name, image and likeness through community engagement events like the Polar Plunge. This will be the first of many charity events with which the Trust will partner. I’m looking forward to watching our athletes’ impact on West Virginia communities.”
West Virginia University alumni Ken Kendrick and Oliver Luck recently announced the formation of game-changing Country Roads Trust LLC, an independent company set up to gather contributions to create Name, Image and Likeness opportunities for Mountaineer student-athletes.
CRT has the backing of an elite Athlete Advisory Team that consists of storied WVU sports legends Jerry West, Don Nehlen, Pat White, Darryl Talley, Da’Sean Butler, Mike Gansey, Ginny Thrasher, Pat McAfee, Jaida Lawrence Hart and Jedd Gyorko. CRT is a company that is completely independent of West Virginia University. However, The Trust is aligned closely with the mission of WVU and committed to serving the student-athletes.
